A belief that everyone should have access to an affordable, nutritious food supply is at the heart of the crop protection industry. Through innovation, stewardship, and modern agricultural inputs, the industry helps growers to sustainably and responsibly produce higher-quality products with a smaller environmental footprint.

  • Crop protection products enable American farms to be both productive and profitable, keeping food and other staples affordable for consumers at home, expanding U.S. food exports abroad, and ultimately helping the more than 900 million people still suffering from malnutrition.
  • Without the use of modern agriculture innovations, 64 percent of all fresh market tomatoes in the U.S. would be lost, while onions could see crop losses exceeding 70 percent.
  • Insecticide sprays reduce the percent of insect-damaged cabbage heads from 40 percent to 1 percent, dramatically reducing waste and maximizing the efficiency of the crops.
  • More than 90 percent of sweet corn ears would be too damaged by insects without modern preventative farming methods.
